From Nanny to Expert: How a Board-Certified Holistic Health Practitioner Is Changing the Way We Clean Baby Car Seats
At some point, almost every mom has that moment.
You look back at your baby’s car seat and think…
“Okay… this needs more than a quick wipe down.”
It’s not just crumbs anymore. It’s old snacks, spilled milk, sticky juice, mystery smells—and somehow things that made their way into places you didn’t even know existed.
And if you’ve ever tried to clean it yourself, you already know… it’s not as simple as it looks.
That’s usually when I hear from moms.
Overwhelmed, not really sure where to start, and just wanting to make sure they’re doing the right thing. Because it’s not just about cleaning something.
It’s about cleaning something your child depends on.

Professional Baby Car Seat Cleaning: How It All Started
I didn’t start out thinking I’d be doing baby car seat cleaning.
It kind of happened naturally over time.
I was born and raised in Jamaica, then moved to New York for college, where I studied psychology. At one point, I really thought I was going to become a pediatrician.
But I realized that path wasn’t for me.
And instead of forcing it, I just allowed things to unfold.
That’s what led me to work closely with families.
I started as a nanny in New York, helping busy families with private childcare. When I moved to South Florida, I continued doing that—and over time, each stage of my life opened the door for something more.

I became a newborn care specialist.
Then, a postpartum doula.
Then, a pediatric sleep consultant.
And eventually, a board-certified holistic health practitioner.
Everything just built on itself.

What most people don’t realize about baby car seats
One thing I always tell parents…
It’s not what you can see.
It’s everything you can’t.
Crumbs, dirt, and buildup don’t just sit on the surface. They get pushed down into crevices, stuck in tight areas, and build up over time in places that are really hard to reach.
And most parents don’t realize how much is actually in there.
Until they start taking it apart.
What I See Parents Doing All the Time
And I get it—because everyone is just trying to do their best.
But one of the biggest mistakes I see moms make is using harsh chemicals or steam cleaners.
It makes sense.
You want it clean. You want it sanitized. You want it to feel fresh again.
But sometimes those methods can actually damage the seat.
Not always in a way you’ll notice right away…
But in a way that can affect how it holds up over time.
And that’s why this is different from cleaning anything else in your home.
This isn’t just about how it looks.
It’s about making sure it’s still safe.

What Makes This Different From Just Cleaning It Yourself
A lot of people think this is just about getting the mess out.
But it’s really about how it’s done.
When I clean a seat, I’m not rushing through it.
I take my time, pay attention to the details, and make sure everything is cleaned properly without affecting the integrity of the seat.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t something you want to guess your way through.

It’s not just a service for me
For me, this goes beyond cleaning.
I’ve worked closely with moms for years, and I know how overwhelming this stage of life can feel.
There’s a lot of pressure. A lot of expectations. And sometimes it feels like you have to figure everything out on your own.
And the truth is… a lot of moms don’t feel heard.
They don’t always feel supported.
And they don’t always feel like they can ask for help without being judged.
That’s something I’m really intentional about.
I want the moms I work with to feel:
- Relieved
- Supported
- Cared for
Like they have someone they can come to without feeling overwhelmed.

If I Could Tell Moms Anything
It would be this:
- Give yourself grace – There’s a lot happening during and after pregnancy. You don’t have to have it all figured out.
- It’s okay to step away – Taking a moment for yourself doesn’t make you a bad mom.
- Take care of yourself – You can’t pour from an empty cup.
It’s simple, but it matters.
Next Steps
A lot of times, cleaning a baby car seat feels like just another task.
Something you feel like you should be able to handle on your own.
But once you really understand what’s involved…
It starts to feel a little different.
Not harder.
Just more important to get right.
And sometimes that just means knowing when to do it yourself—and when it makes more sense to get help.
If you’re in Broward, Miami, Palm Beach County and want peace of mind knowing your child’s car seat is being cleaned and handled properly, I’d be happy to help.
